Solar Domestic Hot Water Heating - Installers Course

The Plumbing Academy

It is estimated there are currently 50,000 solar hot water installations nationally. That number is continuing to increase and with it there is a growing demand for competent, qualified installers.

The Plumbing Academy provides quality training to the plumbing industry and now offers the BPEC Solar Domestic Hot Water Heating Installers Course.

The Solar Training Course

The Solar Domestic Hot Water Heating course enables installers to gain the knowledge and skills needed to specify, install, commission and maintain solar domestic hot water heating systems.

During the three-day course, candidates will undertake practical hands-on training including: fitting solar collectors, commissioning systems, fault finding.  It also studies theory including: current legislation, system selection and design.  As with all courses at the Plumbing Academy, training is delivered by our team of qualified and experienced Tutors.

Course Pre-entry Requirements

The course requires candidates to have a good knowledge of domestic plumbing and heating systems and is intended for existing plumbing engineers who should hold an NVQ in Plumbing at level 3 or equivalent (e.g. C&G Advanced craft.) or have suitable practical experience.

Plumbers currently practising in industry, who do not hold an NVQ (or equivalent) but have suitable experience at this level, should contact The Plumbing Academy for advice before applying.

The Qualification

Candidates will undertake assessment during the course, and when successful will be awarded BPEC Solar Domestic Hot Water Heating Certificate.

Holders of the BPEC qualification can apply to become Accredited Installers of Government funded grant schemes such as the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, and installer members of the Solar Trade Association.
